The carrier works without additional rear lighting repeaters and does not require a power supply on the tailgate. The tailgate can still be opened when unloaded.

Vehicles with a Mechanical Tailgate (without Code W68)

To ensure the tailgate remains open when the bicycle carrier is mounted (and not loaded), reinforced gas struts are required: A447 980 03 64 (1060 Nm).
These gas struts A447 980 03 64 (1060 Nm) can be easily retrofitted on vehicles with a mechanical tailgate.

🚫 Vehicles with an Electric EASY‑PACK Tailgate (Code W68)

Not suitable for use with this tailgate‑mounted bicycle carrier.
Reinforced gas struts must not be installed or retrofitted on vehicles with Code W68; as a result, the tailgate function cannot be ensured when the carrier is mounted.

Opening the Tailgate

unload all bicycles
secure the carrier frame against folding down
for Marco Polo models with an open roof: remove the carrier support arms
